Almost all systems on the market can be installed by the customer. Indeed producers like Just Kits supply frames in kit form specifically for the do-it-yourself owner builder.
Panels are easily handled and are clearly labeled for assembly, generally with pre-punched electrical and plumbing service holes. Roof trusses are labeled and easily secured to support the wall. Ceiling and roof battens are easily fixed to the trusses.
- Source a preferred floor plan and builder and/or suppliers.
- Confirm inclusions list.
- Obtain a soil test and peculation test. Peculation required for un sewed sites.
- Obtain a wind category from council and check for Natural and Bush fire overlays.
- Obtain quotes for everything.
- Seek finance - finance options below.
- Obtain owner builders licence.
- Arrange plans for council - Check what plans are included in your kit price.
- Obtain footing design and Hydraulic drawings if not included. Hydraulic drawings are for non sewed sites (plumbing design)
- Check plans for additional extras re confirm inclusions list and confirm quotes.
- Obtain council approval.
- Order kit and provide time frame, colours,window directions, gutter profile, cladding, roofing etc.
- Arrange concretor and contact subcontractors for up coming jobs.
- Start building your new home.
